16 Jan 2017
A suite of new and revised policies and procedures sets out the steps the University will take to safeguard the employment of staff and how we will manage circumstances which may affect staffing needs
The University recognises the value of retaining staff skills and experience in achieving its strategic plans and academic goals and is committed to maintaining employment practices which promote and enhance the principles of security of employment and diversity of our workforce.
In this context, the University recognises that effective planning can help to determine future staffing needs and thereby improve job security for staff. However, it is recognised that from time to time there may be changes which may affect staffing requirements.
Over the last 12 months, the University and the Trade Unions have worked together to agree a new framework which aims to ensure as far as possible by careful forward planning, the security of employment for all its employees.
The suite of new and revised policies and procedures listed below set out the steps we will take to safeguard the employment of staff and how we will manage circumstances which may affect staffing needs. They will provide a consistent and fair approach to managing organisational change:
- Security of Employment Policy
- Procedure for Introducing change to organisational structures
- Redeployment Policy
- Pay Protection Policy
Line managers must always consult with Human Resources prior to beginning any exercise to change organisational structures.
