Dr Tine Buffel from the School of Social Sciences has won a national prize for her project with Manchester Institute for Collaborative Research on Ageing (MICRA)
Tine won an award in the National Coordinating Centre for Public Engagement (NCCPE) Engage Competition 2016 for her project Older People as Co-Researchers: Developing Age-Friendly Communities in Manchester.
This project, which saw MICRA working with Manchester City Council, Whalley Range Community Forum, Chorlton Good Neighbours Neighbourhood Care Group, Age Friendly Whalley Range and Chorlton and others, received the award for the Working in Partnership category.
It involved older people as co-investigators leading a study designed to improve the quality of life in low-income communities and to develop neighbourhoods responsive to the needs of people as they grow older.
