US Election 2016 - Populism, Gender and the Joys of Hindsight
18 Nov 2016
Learn from the experts as they reflect on one of the most hostile elections in recent years during the latest Your Manchester Insights event
We’ve made a very limited number of free tickets available to staff and students to see Angelia Wilson, Professor of Politics at the University, lead a discussion for our alumni on what the result of the US election and the campaign that led to it means for the rest of the world.
At the event at University Place from 6pm on Wednesday, 7 December 2016, Professor Wilson will ask if the polarisation of this election is the new norm, what role does gender play in the political arena, and how valuable is hindsight in making sense of where we are now?
Dr Ray Raymond, Professor of Government and History at The State University of New York, former British diplomat and senior adviser to Tony Blair, will also join us for part of the lecture via live video link from the USA.
The event is part of Development and Alumni Relations’ Your Manchester Insights series, which see alumni and friends of The University come back to campus to learn about the outstanding research being undertaken by our academics.
