Sign up to fight global threat of antibiotic resistance

The University is hosting an array of events next week to mark World Antibiotics Awareness Week and European Antibiotic Awareness Day in particular
Staff and students are being encouraged to sign up to the Ambassadors for Antibiotic Guardian campaign, a national campaign to which Manchester has the highest sign-up rate.
The campaign is part of an array of events across the University which are being supported by David Allison (Division of Pharmacy and Optometry) and Roger Harrison (Division of Population Health), working alongside students from pharmacy, and medicine and nursing, to promote the global threat of antibiotic resistance.
On Thursday, 18 November (European Antiobiotic Awareness Day), Clarissa from the Global Health Society will be leading a public engagement debate (now oversubscribed) with local, national and international speakers presenting a lively debate with a focus on what each of us can do. Primary and secondary school children will also be involved, to reflect the work David has done in secondary schools and that Lydia is starting in primary schools.
Lydia Bagg and Medics in Primary Schools, in partnership with the Global Health Society, are launching the start of their project, to provide basic education and awareness raising on antibiotic resistance, after a successful grant issued by the University Alumni Learning Enhancement Fund.
