28 Oct 2016
Tickets available to wider University community for this anniversary event
A small number of tickets are available to the wider University community for this anniversary event at which the University's Professor of Public History, Michael Wood, will speak.
The Confucius Institute is making a small number of tickets available to the wider University community for its 10th anniversary celebration on Tuesday, 8 November 2016 (4-6pm) in Whitworth Hall.
2016 marks the 10th anniversary of the foundation of the Confucius Institute (CI) at the University. Over this period, the CI has established itself as a resource for the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures, the wider University and the local Manchester community. It has become an important asset with an excellent reputation for supporting access to Chinese language learning and Chinese culture in the North West.
The anniversary event will commence with performances conducted by our Confucius Classrooms and University of Manchester students presenting a dedicated piece of music.
Afterwards, the University's Professor of Public History, Michael Wood, and Professor of Chinese Politics and History (University of Oxford), Rana Mitter, will join newly appointed CI Academic Director, Dr Aaron William Moore, in a conversation about the role of media in shaping perceptions of modern China and its history.
The event will conclude with a drinks reception.
