Temporary closure of Oxford Road and closure of Brunswick Street

Oxford Road will close in both directions between Hathersage Road and Booth Street from Saturday, 22 October until Sunday, 30 October to enable re-surfacing works to take place
As well as enabling work to be done safely and efficiently, the full closure will allow work to proceed in a number of locations at once, to maximise use of the closure. This will include works at the junctions of Nelson Street, Grafton Street and Dover Street.
Access to Burlington Street (via Dover Street) will be provided from 6am to 6pm on weekdays only. Manchester City Council will provide a banksman at the end of Dover Street, who will control access over the site area via radio to our gatehouse. There will be red periods during the week when there will be no access, eg whilst work is carried out across the entrance, and the University will be notified of these in advance nearer the time.
Localised pedestrian management on the footway will be in place and full access to all premises by foot will be maintained throughout.
During the work, road users are advised to follow the diversion signage that will be in place on adjoining roads.

TfGM have also made available the final scheme map to help drivers, because they are now introducing the permanent restrictions for general traffic between Hathersage Road and Grosvenor Street and are encouraging drivers to familiarise themselves now with the changes. Bus service diversions during closure
All Oxford Road bus services will be affected by the full closure that comes into effect on 22 October. A list of those services and the locations of temporary stops is available at:
Closure of Brunswick Street
Brunswick Street now has a permanent ‘No Entry’ restriction in place at the junction with Oxford Road. This prohibits all vehicles from turning into Brunswick Street from Oxford Road, although access will still be maintained for cycles by means of a bypass lane.
Work to implement this change is now under way and requires a temporary full closure of the junction until 22 October.
Additionally, from Wednesday, 19 October at 8am, access to Brunswick Street from Upper Brook Street will be closed to enable the continued development of the Schuster Building. This closure will be maintained for the duration of the Schuster Building works (at least 12 months). Signage will be provided along Upper Brook Street to notify motorists.
Diversion routes will be put in place to enable pedestrians and cyclists to access Brunswick Street. Vehicles that require access to the frontage of buildings on Brunswick Street will be able to do so following prior arrangement via NGI off Booth Street or via the Chemistry service yard off Dover Street.
Access to buildings on Brunswick Street
Chemistry and Zochonis: access for accessible parking/drop-off is off Upper Brook Street via Dover Street barrier – car park either in bays or car/taxi drop-off (returning out via entrance).
Simon Building: as above however if necessary arrangements can be made with Faculty Estates Team (Sharon Pike 0161 275 4238) to remove the padlock from bollards and drop off directly outside Simon Building frontage.
All delivery access to these buildings (off Dover Street to loading bays) and all visitor access to these buildings remain the same.
All access arrangements will be reviewed prior to the commencement of the Brunswick Park Project early 2017.
With regard to the campus north of Brunswick Street there is no change. All deliveries/visitors/accessible access will be off Upper Brook Street:
Traffic congestion around Booth Street
The physical works currently taking place on Booth Street are expected to complete later this month and will go some way to alleviating the traffic congestion experienced since the work began. However, it will be necessary to maintain the temporary traffic signals until the final signals are installed later this year.
