Road closures and changes to bus services for Athletes' Parade

Information to help you cope with the impact on the city's roads and transport of the crowds welcoming home Olympic and Paralympic heroes on Monday
On Monday, 17 October, the City of Manchester will be welcoming Team GB and ParalympicsGB and tens of thousands of other visitors for the Athletes' Parade at 4.30pm.
From 12 noon onwards, services will be busier than usual and road closures around the city mean there will be some changes to bus services.
Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) are working to make extra trams, trains and parking spaces available and encourage everyone, including University staff, to plan your journey in advance, be patient and allow yourself plenty of time to get to where you want to go.
Full details of road closures can be found below so that you can avoid or work around them:
Road closures
- From 6am–9pm Liverpool Road (from Water Street to Lower Byrom Street).
- Albert Square, Mount Street (from Peter Street to Lloyd Street), Princess Street, Bootle Street (from Southmill to Mount Street), Central Street.
- From 10am–9pm Liverpool Road (from Water Street to Deansgate), Lower Byrom Street (from residents car park to Liverpool Road).
- From 12 noon–6pm Deansgate – south (from Whitworth Street West to Quay Street/Peter Street), Peter Street – westbound only (from Oxford Street/Portland Street to Deansgate) Great Bridgewater Street (from Watson Street to Deansgate).
- From 12 noon–7pm Victoria Station (including Hunt’s Bank, Victoria Approach, Todd Street) – access to the Station Car Park will be available via Corporation Street, Great Ducie Street (from Victoria Street to Trinity Way).
- From 12 noon–9pm Deansgate (from Quay Street/Peter Street to Victoria Bridge Street), Victoria Bridge Street, Chapel Street, Victoria Street, Cross Street, King Street, John Dalton Street, Bridge Street (from St Mary’s Street to Deansgate), Withy Grove (from Dantzic Street to Corporation Street), Corporation Street (from Todd Street to Withy Grove).
