Bursaries are available to support the travel costs of researchers attending a conference where they will build relationships with those working in Parliament and discuss the impact of Brexit on key policy areas
Organised by UK Parliament, 'Brexit: an academic conference' offers academics the chance to share academic expertise and build networks with parliamentary researchers. The conference takes place in Westminster on Thursday, 10 November 2016.
There will be a focus on six policy areas:
- Trade relations and economic impacts
- Immigration
- Environment, Agriculture and Fisheries
- Energy and Climate Change
- Foreign and security policy
- Science and research funding`
Policy@manchester is able to offer our researchers support in attending by covering travel costs (in line with standard University policies) to and from this conference.
Expressions of interest are invited, to be submitted by Friday 30 September. To apply, please send an email to policy@manchester.ac.uk, stating your name, your area of research interest (related to the six policy themes), how you and your research would benefit from attendance, and how you would seek to use the event as a platform for further engagement with Parliament and policy makers.
Once policy@manchester has reviewed applications received, it will contact applicants to confirm whether we are able to support them. Funding will be dependent on you securing your own place at the conference you must apply in person by 7 October using the online system highlighted above.
If and when you have confirmation you have secured a place, policy@manchester will liaise with you to make the appropriate travel bookings (using the Egencia system, in line with standard University policy). Please note you will be expected to be flexible on travel timings to a certain degree, to allow the University to benefit from lower fares where available.
