Climb the wall for Oxfam

19 Aug 2016

Oxjam Manchester Takeover and Rock Over Climbing are teaming up for a fun packed day of climbing and bouldering at the Oxjam Manchester Rockover

This event on Saturday, 17 September is suitable for all ages and abilities and will include introductory sessions to kick off the full day of activities and music. It has been organised by the Oxjam Manchester Takeover team whose members include Emily Marsden from Alliance MBS and Dalinder Sall from the Photon Science Institute.

Oxjam Takeovers are amazing multi-venue extravaganzas that literally take over a town or city for the night, showcasing local emerging talent and raising lots of money for Oxfam. They are a massive celebration of local music, organised by a team of  exceptional volunteers.

Introductory sessions (11am and 12pm)

Those who are new to climbing can join in session to get to grips with the basics, including the all-important safety elements, before we move on to the competition.

Climbing competition (1-5pm)

Can you flash our routes? Take your time and complete the route without coming off the wall in as few attempts as possible. Some of these are tough, so we expect to put even the most experienced climbers to the test.

Tickets

Wristbands are £7.50 allowing you to come and go as you please.

Live music (5.30pm - 7pm)

The day will round off with live music from some fantastic local artists.

Climbing activities

Rock on over for more – in addition we have slack lining and for the true thrill seekers – the leap of faith. All included in the price.

Food and drink

Need to refuel? No problem food and drinks will be available from the centres café all day!
