University's fiftieth defibrillator located at Jodrell Bank
10 Aug 2016
The University has been shortlisted in UK Heart Safe Awards 2016 for its work on AEDs and basic life support, as our fiftieth automated defibrillator (AED) is installed at Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre
On 12 October 2011, after working closely with the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust, the University located its first AED in the control building of Jodrell Bank Observatory.
Since then, the scheme has gone from strength to strength and on 15 July 2016 the University's 50th AED was located at reception at the Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre. The Visitor Services Team at Jodrell Bank Observatory all have first aid training and are delighted to have this vital piece of life saving equipment more readily available for visitors and staff, should someone suffer a cardiac arrest on site.
In recognition of the work carried out on campus around AEDs and Basic Life Support, the University has been shortlisted again for the UK Heart Safe Awards in the category of Heart Safe Educational Establishment of the Year. The winner will be announced at a charity dinner on 7 October.
