Professor Nav Kapur takes prestigious mental health role

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has appointed Professor Nav Kapur, of the Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences’ Centre for Mental Health and Risk, to Chair their Depression Guideline.

Professor Kapur is currently Head of Research in the Centre for Suicide Prevention and previously chaired NICE’s self-harm guidelines in 2012.

Professor Kapur said: “I am delighted to have been appointed to chair the guideline for this area of mental health. Depression in its various forms is very common, ranging from mild to potentially life threatening and the NICE guidelines will be very important in helping to improve patient care.”
