A long British summer of exhibitions and events at Manchester Museum
We hear about climate change on the news and in the newspapers. Climate change is happening all around us, but this isn’t the time to ignore it, it’s the time to get really, really, creative. Manchester Museum will be staging a series of exhibitions and events for visitors to explore what kind of future they hope for, and what it would take to help make that a reality. A series of exhibitions and events explore the idea that we can’t change the past but we can change the future, and how we can each make a difference to help create the world of our choice.
The programme is being developed in partnership with the Tyndall Centre and Global Development Institute at the University of Manchester, and Manchester A Certain Future, the city’s climate change strategy and action plan.
Climate Control is the Museum's main contribution towwards Manchester's time as European City of Science.

The Grapes of Wrath & The Island President
A weekend of climate themed screenings at Manchester Museum, with films to suit everyone. Join us to watch some serious and some not so serious films and documentaries that tackle the issues of a changing climate.

Urban Naturalist: Trees
Sunday, 28 August: 2-4pm
Friendly, practical workshops run by leading naturalists. From wild food-foraging and composting to bird song and insect identification, explore biodiversity on our doorstep.
Trees: Their role in urban environments
We all encounter trees in our daily lives but have you ever thought about what they do for you? If you would like to learn more about the role that trees play in urban environments then this is the workshop for you.
City of Trees is a new Greater Manchester-wide movement which aims to plant 3 million trees over the next 20 years. As the team leading the movement, we will be looking at some of our recent tree planting projects, providing an insight into the benefits that trees provide and looking at their influence on air quality, flood risk, city temperatures and more.
This workshop will help you to develop an understanding of what trees do for us and how they are vital in making Manchester a better place to live and work.

Big Saturday: I Spy Nature
Saturday, 27 August (11am - 4pm)
From minibeasts to mammals, discover more about nature all around you and what you can do to help nature thrive. Explore the Museum’s Nature Discovery and Living Worlds gallery to spot local and global wildlife. Meet the RSPB and the Wildlife Trust and to find out more about their work. Get hands on and make creations inspired by nature. All this and more, something for all the family.
