Manchester Professor to sit in ITV’s Referendum hot seat

The University's Professor Jane Green is once again making the final preparations to provide live analysis on ITV

Last May the Co-Director of the British Election Study joined ITV’s News at Ten Presenters Tom Bradby and Julie Etchingham to analyse the results LIVE during the ITV News Election 2015 Overnight Programme, working through the night of 15 May as the poll results came in.

When the Referendum polls close on tomorrow Professor Green, who is one of the nation’s leading political scientists, will be working with Tom Bradby, Allegra Stratton and Professor Colin Rallings in the ITV studio on the Referendum Result Live Programme.

This year Jane will be analysing patterns of voting throughout the night on a map of results. Manchester’s Dr Chris Prosser will also be in the studio using British Election Study data to inform the likelihood of a victory for remain or for leave.

Expert analysis and reaction will be in high demand and the team will share their interpretation of the results as they happen.

Professor Green has been using British Election Study data, which has been monitoring British electoral behaviour since 1964, to prepare the graphics and visual data for the night to give viewers an informed and impartial view of the results as they come in.

Based at ITV News’s Grays Inn Road studio Coverage begins at 10pm until 6am.

The British Election Study is run by the University in collaboration with the Universities of Oxford and Nottingham.
