Help select the world’s future academic leaders

14 Jun 2016

Applications now open for 2017/18 Chevening reading committees

The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) aims to promote and support excellence in higher education for the benefit of individuals and societies throughout the Commonwealth and beyond.

Its Chevening Secretariat, which plays a crucial part in the selection of future Chevening scholars and fellows at the ACU, has recently opened applications for the 2017/18 Chevening reading committee. It is looking to recruit experts to participate in this exciting opportunity.

Reading committees play a vital role in the selection of Chevening scholars and fellows. Each committee comprises of two members, a Regional Assessor and an Academic Assessor, and they will be asked to assess applications from a particular country or countries from a particular region.

Regional Assessors have substantial international experience across a range of countries and/or a region. They are typically professionals who have lived and worked abroad or who have held a position which involved extensive visits and accrued knowledge of a number of countries. Previously, Regional Assessors have included former UK diplomats and representatives from private sector organisations or higher education institutions.

Academic Assessors have significant experience in assessing academic applications from a wide range of subject areas for entry to a UK postgraduate course. Previously, Academic Assessors have included individuals who work at a UK higher education institution, recruitment agency or scholarship scheme.
