Running for Ovarian Cancer Action charity in 10K Great Manchester Run

22 Apr 2016

Lauren Banko from the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures is raising money for Ovarian Cancer Action (UK) charity in the 10K Great Manchester Run in honour of her Mum on 22 May

Lauren will be part of the Ovarian Cancer Action (UK) charity team for the Great Manchester Run.  She will be running in order to raise funds for the charity, in honour of her Mum who passed away this past December after a two year battle with ovarian cancer.  All money raised will go to Ovarian Cancer Action, one of several UK based charities committed to funding research into treatment to eradicate ovarian cancer, and which support women affected by ovarian cancer and their loved ones.

Over seventy-five percent of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer are diagnosed at stage 3, or 4, and less than fifty percent of this number survive five years after the diagnosis.

Despite this depressing reality, early diagnosis through knowledge of the symptoms of ovarian cancer is absolutely crucial. Survival numbers are improving in the UK, but funding for improvements into further research, treatments, as well as general care for women living with recurrent ovarian cancer is vital.

Any amount that you can give is appreciated, and 100% of that amount goes towards Ovarian Cancer Action.
