Black lawyers matter

21 Apr 2016

Public meeting featuring Dr Dawn Edge, Professor Gus John, Stafford Scott and Tunde Okewale at West Indian Sports and Social Club, Westwood Street, Moss Side, M14 4SW on Thursday, 5 May (7pm)

Considering the disproportionate impact of the criminal justice system upon African Caribbean men, why are so few of our young men going to University to study law?

As a community we must come together to address these difficult questions. Please come along to Westwood Street West Indian Club on Wednesday, 5 May at 7pm.

Have your say and raise your questions. Widening participation, what does it mean? How will it deliver? What is legal consciousness? Event chaired by Dr Dawn Edge.

You will hear from representatives of the University along with Professor Gus John, Tottenham justice campaigner Stafford Scott, barrister Tunde Okewale, representatives from student organisations and most importantly parents and local community organisations.

Hosted by the University's School of Law
