Open Access for articles and conference papers

From 1st April 2016 peer reviewed articles and conference papers must be Open Access

New HEFCE and University policies require that all peer-reviewed articles and conference papers accepted from 1st April 2016 must be Open Access.  Papers that do not meet the requirements of the HEFCE Open Access policy may not be eligible for submission to the next REF exercise.

Authors are required to deposit the Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM) version of papers at the point of acceptance for publication and no later than 3 months after the acceptance date. Deposits should be made via the Library’s Open Access Gateway, after which Library staff will ensure that the publication is added to the institutional repository and meets policy requirements.  Detailed guidance is available on the Library webpages or via the Library’s Scholarly Communication team.
