Win great prizes and support student hardship funds

Take part in the 2016 Purple Pig Challenge during RAG Week (11-15 April)

Next week students will be taking part in lots of activities on campus raising money for good causes. University staff are invited to join them by taking part in the Purple Pig Challenge, in aid of student hardship funds here at the University. 

The team who collect the most in their piggy bank will win a behind-the-scenes ‘Meet the Mummies’ tour of Manchester Museum with Curator of Egyptology Dr Campbell Price.

The best ‘Pig Picture’ posted to Twitter* with #IloveUoM will win lunch for two people at Christie’s Bistro.

To take part

  • Collect a purple piggy bank from one of our stands at the beginning of RAG week. Look out for the ‘I love UoM’ posters at the collection points in the following locations:
    - Monday, 11 April in The Drum, University Place (11.45am – 2.30pm)
    - Monday, 11 April in Renold Building corridor C008, North campus (3-5pm)
    - Tuesday, 12 April in Students’ Union gazebo on Oxford Road (8am – 10am)
  • During the week, fill your pig with spare change – you don’t have to do it alone, make sure your colleagues help you out! 
  • Also make sure to send us some photos of your pig via Twitter, using #IloveUoM
  • At the end of the week please return your piggy bank – we’ll be collecting at the following locations:
    - Friday, 15 April in The Drum, University Place (11.30am - 4.30pm)
    - Friday, 15 April in Renold Building B001 (12pm – 2pm)

If you can’t make it to return your pig, send an email to kiera.gould@manchester.ac.uk, and we’ll collect it from your office.

Money raised through this fun and simple challenge will go to one of Manchester RAG’s chosen charities for 2016: student hardship funds at the University. This money ensures the University can support hard-working students who face unexpected and significant financial difficulties through no fault of their own. These grants can mean the difference between a student completing their degree, or having to leave when facing a crisis.
