Student halls event in top three in Safe Campus Campaign category
The University was shortlisted in the Suzy Lamplugh Trust National Personal Safety Awards, for a Personal Safety Day held at Fallowfield Halls of Residence.
The event was organised and run by Louise Neilson, from the Directorate for Student Experience, and Mark Hibbert, from the Directorate of Sport, Trading and Residential Services. It focused on engaging students with a wide range of safety messages, including fire safety, personal safety and sexual health.
Louise and Mark attended the awards ceremony, hosted by former Crimewatch presenter Jacqui Hames.
The University faced tough competition but was shortlisted in the top three universities in the Safe Campus Campaign category.
Louise said: “Although we were unlucky not to take home first prize, to be nominated for a national award is a great achievement. We’re very proud of the event, which aimed to prepare students to live safer and more confident lives.”
