RAG Week – University staff, we need you!
11 Mar 2016
Could you organise an event or collect a donation in your office for this year's RAG Week (11-17 April)?
Manchester RAG (Raise and Give) is one of the biggest and most successful charitable student societies in the UK. In our diverse University community however, there are many people who don’t know about the great work student volunteers put in to raise thousands of pounds every year for local, national and international charities.
This year we’re inviting University staff to join in and help raise awareness of the work Manchester RAG do for good causes, and raise some money for this year’s charities. RAG Week 2016 will be in aid of Student Hardship Funds at The University of Manchester and the Manchester RAG Community Fund. Student Hardship Funds give financial assistance to students who find themselves in urgent need through no fault of their own, allowing them to complete their studies. The Manchester RAG Community Fund makes small grants to charities in our local communities.
Could you hold a bake sale in your department, a clothes swap or sponsored event? What about a wear-purple-to-work day? Or something more creative?
We will also be running the Purple Pig Challenge for Student Hardship Funds – collect a purple piggy bank and fill with spare change through the week (or get your colleagues to contribute!) Drop back your piggy bank at the end of the week. We have two fantastic prizes for the most collected and for the best ‘pig-pic’ posted to Twitter with #IloveUoM:
- 'Meet the Mummies’ – a behind the scenes small-group tour of Manchester Museum’s Egyptology collection with Curator Dr Campbell Price
- Lunch for two at Christie’s Bistro
