Student competition winners pitch their ideas in Whitehall

The successful teams in the Careers Service's annual 10 Downing Street Student competition will pitch their ideas for applying the GREAT Britain campaign to the city of Manchester in Whitehall next month
On 2 March 2016, Executive Director for Government Communications, Alex Aiken, visited the University to be head judge for the annual No. 10 Downing Street Student Competition.
Organised by the Careers Service, five teams of current students took part in the competition, creating a poster board with ideas for how they would apply the GREAT Britain campaign to the city of Manchester.
Following this, each team pitched their idea to a judging panel consisting of Alex Aiken and University colleagues Paul Govey and Marie Gray - as well as current student and a winner from last year's competition, David Ashaolu-Coker.
One team was declared the outright winner, with another team receiving a special mention. Both teams will travel to London on 7 April to pitch their ideas to the GREAT Britain campaign team at 70 Whitehall, as well as receiving a guided tour of Whitehall and Number 10 itself.
The competition was a brilliant demonstration of the creativity, tenacity and presenting ability of our students - and all students who took part will have developed a wide range of employability skills that they can take into any future career.
