Senate elections result

Academics take seats from 1 September 2016
The results of the Senate elections have been announced.
The elected academics will take their seats on the body responsible for monitoring standards in teaching and promoting research from 1 September 2016, in the Faculty of Humanities, the re- designated Faculty of Science and Engineering and the newly established Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health.
They are:
Faculty of Science and Engineering
The following staff will serve as Senate members:
- Dr Sarah Heath, School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering;
- Professor Sarah Cartmell, School of Materials (re-appointed);
- Dr Helen McCormick, School of Materials;
- Dr Delia Vazquez, School of Materials;
- Dr Gregory Lane-Serff, School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering.
Each will serve from 1 September 2016 to 31 August 2019.
Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health
Following a ballot of all academic and research staff in the Faculty, the following staff have been elected:
- Professor Aneez Esmail, School of Health Sciences;
- Professor Colin Sibley, School of Medical Sciences;
- Dr Dawn Edge, School of Health Sciences;
- Dr Janine Lamb, School of Health Sciences;
- Professor Anne White, School of Medical Sciences;
- Dr Enam el Haque, School of Medical Sciences.
Each will serve from 1 September 2016 to 31 August 2019.
Faculty of Humanities
Following a ballot of all academic and research staff in the Faculty, the following staff have been elected:
- Dr Steven Jones, School of Environment, Education and Development;
- Dr Ina Berg, School of Arts, Languages and Cultures;
- Dr Soumhya Venkatesan, School of Social Science.
Each will serve from 1 September 2016 to 31 August 2019.
Due to a member of Senate leaving the University part way through their term, an additional place for a two-year term has arisen and Professor Mark Elliot, School of Social Sciences, will fill this place from 1 September 2016 to 31 August 2018.
