Student cycling team hits the road for cancer support

The University of Manchester Cycling Club (UMCC) is riding from Manchester to Liverpool and Oldham and back again to raise funds for Maggie's Centres
Last November, the University Cycling Club raised £1,656 for Maggie's, a charity which supports cancer sufferers, with a 24 hour non-stop stationary ride outside the Students' Union.
Now, they've decided to get moving and, in March, will cycle en masse from the site of the future Maggie's Centre at The Christie in Manchester to the current site at Maggie's Merseyside. There will be around 50 cyclists in total, doing either 85 or 110 miles.
Sadly, practical, emotional and social support is often not available to cancer sufferers and their families. Maggie's has centres nationwide that help with everything from hair loss advice to dealing with bereavement. At the moment, Maggie's has 15 centres in the UK, with another eight planned, including one at The Christie and another at Oldham.
Eleni Papadopoulos, the Club's media and sponsorship secretary, said "A whole day at Maggie's requires approximately £2,400 and we would love to reach this total".
