University marks 12 months of discovery in Manchester
World Cancer Day takes place today (Thursday, 4 February) and to mark it, the University is celebrating 12 months of discovery and innovation in this field right here on our campus.
Cancer research is one of the University’s Research Beacons.
Our achievements include the opening of the new £28.5 million building for the Manchester Cancer Research Centre in June and studies that showed graphene could have potential as a cancer treatment and the development of cancer drug-packed ‘grenades’ armed with heat sensitive triggers allowing for treatment to be targeted directly at tumours.
