Light up the city and say no to sexual violence against women, street harassment and victim blaming
Reclaim the Night – the campaign against sexual violence against women – is once more lighting up the city of Manchester and raising its collective voice in a march on Thursday, 25 February.
Departing from Owens Park at 7pm, this creative and inspiring event is open to the whole community, with a large presence expected from both student and staff bodies.
The march will be led by a self-defining women-only block and followed by a mixed block open to all genders. There will also be a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) block and a youth and families block on the march.
After the march the evening continues with the free Reclaim the Night after-party, a festival showcasing live music, speakers, poets, community stalls and awesome DJs till 2am. There will also be a pre-march event for young people and families at The Pankhurst Centre.
Last year’s march saw over 2,000 people come together for an empowering and vibrant event. This year is going to be bigger, brighter and louder than ever.

Volunteers to be stewards on the march are required. The job would involve walking alongside the march, keeping it moving and knowing what to do if any issues arise.
Stewarding is a really fun experience and a great way to help ensure that the event is even more successful than last year.
