Access to the Business School
07 Jan 2016
Work has begun on setting up the construction site for the Alliance Manchester Business School Redevelopment Project
The site spans from outside the entrance to AMBS West, including the disabled and parking area, round to the public grassed area alongside the building. The construction site area will be fenced off initially, with hoardings following soon.
Up until the week commencing 18 January you will be able to access AMBS West reception, as normal, from the direction of the public grassed area and the Booth Street West car park.
From 18 January, access will change and you will only be able to access the AMBS entrance from Booth Street West as the footpath alongside the building will be closing. The access road to the car park between the Hotel/Executive Education site and AMBS West site will remain open for vehicle access but will be busy with construction and other traffic. With this in mind, pedestrians should not use this route. Walking routes will be clearly signposted for the duration of the project:
- From the car park you should turn left and walk around the hotel site via Higher Cambridge Street;
- From the rest of the campus you should walk via Oxford Road.
The University is looking at a number of options to mitigate the impact of the construction works on traffic accessing the multi-storey car park, and there will be a further updates on this.
As part of the work to set up the construction site, a number of trees around the building being removed over the next month, but rest assured as many tress as possible are being retained and protected. Each tree removed will be replaced by two trees at the end of the project.
There will be some noise disruption locally as the site is being set-up and the trees felled, and work will also continue on the hotel and executive education building site.
Regular updates will be provided as the work progresses.
