Christmas switch off
22 Dec 2015
Don’t forget to give your appliances a festive break
University colleagues are asked to switch off their appliances before leaving for Christmas.
During the Easter break, the University monitored ten buildings that had turned off all non-essential appliances. From that it was calculated that the University could save as much as £650,000 over the whole year, if colleagues switched off during breaks, evenings and weekends.
So, be sure to log off your managed desktop PCs, switch off any lights and non-essential appliances, and turn down the heating before you leave. Make sure you include equipment such as water baths and drying ovens.
And also remember to close windows and doors when you’re doing a final check!
