Selena loses her locks for charity
21 Dec 2015
Selena Zafar from the University Library took part in Shave Head Day (20 December) in aid of Macmillan Cancer, St Ann's Hospice and Manchester United Foundation
The day began with a blow-dry from the lovely folk at Fretwell Bennett on Oxford Street. This was done to show the length of Selena's hair and to make it easier to donate to the Little Princess Trust – the charity that provides wigs and hair pieces to children who have lost their hair through chemotherapy.
Then it was off to Toni & Guy on Mosley Street for the big event. Selena said "I won’t lie and say I had no nerves but everyone was brilliant and made me feel at ease. I laughed my way through and [strangely] enjoyed it. I guess knowing why I was doing it and how it would help others made it an easy task. I wish I could do more!"
Selena added "I'd like to thank everyone who supported me, offered to knit hats and made very kind donations. All much appreciated. I am in awe of you all."
Selena's JustGiving page is still open for donations if anybody would like to help any of the three charities:
