Professor Alistair Burns lectures on 'The challenge of dementia'

On Wednesday, 16 December (12-1.30pm) in Humphrey Booth Lecture Theatre, Mayo Building, Salford Royal

Dementia is the most significant health and social care challenge of the 21st century. Professor Alistair Burns, the National Clinical Director for Dementia in England, Professor in Old Age Psychiatry at The University of Manchester and Honorary Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist in the Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust, is working with Salford R+D to provide a focal point for dementia research in the city.

He will look at how we can translate current awareness of dementia into action which improves the quality of life for people with dementia and their carers. His lecture will also cover risk reduction, timely diagnosis, post-diagnostic support for people with dementia, their families and carers, dementia friendly communities and high quality end of life care.
