Would you like to become a Volunteer Walk Leader?
26 Nov 2015
The University's Walking for Health scheme invites you to join their volunteer team
Walking for Health is a collaboration between the Ramblers and Macmillan Cancer Support. The University has a Walking for Health Scheme - Lunchtime Strollers - which walks almost every day during the working week, and is led by volunteers.
We would like to invite you to join our volunteer team.
What is the training?
The training covers all you need to know about Walk Leading, including the benefits of and barriers to walking, risk assessment and route planning, the necessary paperwork (there isn’t much!), insurance, and what being a WfH Walk Leader is all about (the responsibilities, and the benefits).
When and how long is the training?
Monday 11 January 2016, 09.30-16.30
What’s expected of me after completing the training?
After the training, what would be required of you? Well you don’t need to come up with a new walk to lead each week. You can either lead existing walks, sharing a rota with the existing Walk Leaders, or you could lead a monthly walk, or just act as back marker for the walks you currently attend or want to start attending. This can be flexible around you and our scheme, however we would expect that you participate in some way after the training (even if only as back marker).
