Our ‘gallery in the park’ takes another prestigious award

The Whitworth has won the Best Emerging Culture Destination, Europe prize in the Leading Cultural Destinations awards.

Our ‘gallery in the park’ has won a host of awards since it re-opened in February following a £15 million refurbishment.

These awards were shortlisted following nomination of venues and are judged by an international panel.

Gallery director Maria Balshaw said: “It’s very nice to win something that we didn’t even apply for.  And we were the only UK institution in the Europe category, with some stellar competition!”
