Update your wardrobe for autumn/winter at the Rutherford Swish
29 Sep 2015
On Thursday, 19 November (12.30 – 1.30pm) in the Rutherford Room, Rutherford Building
Are you updating your autumn/winter wardrobe or clearing out your spring/summer threads? Don't throw away your unwanted clothes - come along to the seasonal Rutherford ‘Swish’ (clothes swap) and “swish” them for other pre-loved items!
Admission is £2 if you bring items and £3 if you don't. Proceeds will be shared between the Wood Street Mission and Cornerstone Homeless Charity.
How does it work? You bring along any good quality items of clothing which you no longer wear/use (handbags, shoes, tops and dresses etc), you pay a donation which goes to a good cause, and you can help yourself to any items which colleagues have brought in which take your fancy! Any leftover items of clothing will be donated to the Wood Street Mission/Cornerstone, and will be put to good use by local families. We have now raised over £500 though these events for local charities, plus donated 50 bags of good quality, used clothing to the charities – something to be proud of!
Please feel free to also bring in items to be donated straight to charity, they are always in need of good quality children's and young adult clothing, baby equipment, bedding and toiletries. Cornerstone in particular is in crisis at the moment and urgently needs donations of food, clothes and bedding. If you would like to help them in advance of the SWISH, visit:
Feel free to pass this information onto friends and colleagues who might be interested. If anyone would like to volunteer to help me down after, or take the donations to Cornerstone/Wood Street, extra pairs of hands are most appreciated!
