24 hours of prowler pushes to help two year old Leo
22 Sep 2015
Becky Davies from the Arthritis Research UK Epidemiology Unit and a group of friends from a Stockport gym are going to push a prowler for 24 hours to help raise money for a young cancer sufferer
A prowler is a piece of gym equpment which can be dragged, pushed, pulled, forced, slogged, shoved, thrust or powered to provide ultimate strength and resistance training.
Leo was full of life and enjoyed playing with his older sister Sophia. Two months ago, he began vomiting on and off and was very tired and lethargic, but doctors reassured his mum that there was nothing wrong. On 2 September, she noticed that Leo couldn't move his right arm properly. He was rushed to hospital, where a CT scan showed a 7cm cancerous brain tumour. His condition was serious enough to require immediate surgery and his recovery and future are still uncertain.
Leo has now contracted septicaemia and is fighting for his life in hospital.
All money raised will be used to help Leo's family in whatever way they need. His parents are unable to work during Leo's illness and they face over an hour's journey from their home to the hospital in Spain where Leo is being treated.
Leo will need round-the-clock care for a long time after he comes out of the hospital, including a full rehabilitation program which will have to be self-funded. In addition, the group is looking to raise awareness of the signs of tumours in young children.
