Walking Works event
19 Aug 2015
Find out more about the health benefits of walking and join a lunchtime walk on Wednesday, 9 September (11.30am-2pm) from University Place external events area
Building on the success of the University’s very own Lunchtime Strollers Group, with support from both inside and outside the University (see below), a great staff event is planned to showcase the many benefits walking can provide. Please come along and encourage colleagues to come along with you.
Guided lunchtime walks
Two walks will be setting off from University Place at 12.15pm and 1pm.
Each walk has 25 places, covers just under two miles and will be at a gentle pace, taking 35-45 minutes.
The circular walks will be led by qualified volunteers from the University’s Lunchtime Strollers Group and will pass Elizabeth Gaskell’s House and Swinton Grove Park.
Book your place
Places are available on a first come, first served basis. You can book yourself on either walk online at:
More about the event
As many of you will already know, walking is great in so many ways! Not only does it burn calories, provide major health benefits and save money; it is also the most environmentally friendly form of travel and allows you to explore your surroundings. For all these reasons the event organisers (see list below) have joined forces to put on this great new event!
What’s happening at University Place?
Whether you are able to join a walk or not, please come over to University Place to speak to the experts and pick up some great free incentives. Here’s who’ll be there:
University Lunchtime Strollers
Staff who are qualified ‘Walking for Health’ walk leaders will be on hand to answer questions during the walks and will encourage you to join the regular on-campus walks which take place 4 days a week (Tuesday to Friday). For more information, please email lunchtime-strollers@manchester.ac.uk or visit The University’s Lunchtime Strollers.
Walking Works Programme
