Attendees were treated to inspiring personal stories on the positive impact that involvement and engagement has had, not just on research and teaching but the positive difference made to people’s lives (patient and public representatives, researchers and teachers alike). Jointly hosted by the Centre for Engagement and Involvement (CEI) and Manchester Academic Health Science Centre (MAHSC, attendees were able to contribute to the Centre’s action plan and to sign up to Friends of MAHSC.’

Giving the keynote address, Professor Chris Cutts, Associate Dean for Social Responsibility said: “This was a great celebration of the important contribution that patients and the public make to the Faculty’s work and a chance to say thank you.”

Dr Mary Tully, MHS Academic PPIE Lead, said: “It was lovely to see everyone getting involved in networking – there was such a great buzz about the room. At the same time, we were also able to collect vital information to contribute towards the next iteration of our action plan in supporting PPIE.”

Carole Bennett, Patient Representative, added: ‘Everything went brilliantly. It was a great mix of talks and activities and I think that everyone will have learned a lot, as well as it being a celebration.”
