End of support for Windows Server 2003

Support for the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Operating System will end on Tuesday 14 July 2015.

From this date any servers will be at an increased risk due to the termination of support and future security updates.

It is important that these servers are upgraded as soon as possible.

We will be actively scanning the network for Windows 2003 servers. If found, we will attempt to make contact with the server’s owner with a deadline by which the server must be upgraded. If we are unable to find an owner or are unable to successfully engage, we will be looking at blocking/heavily restricting access to the University network from any affected servers remaining after Tuesday 14 July.

We are also monitoring for computers still running Windows XP. Unless arrangements have previously been officially made, we will also be looking at restricting access to these computers.
