Blackboard – end of year information

30 Jun 2015

Access to (2014/2015) Blackboard courses

Blackboard logo

You and your students currently have access to your Blackboard courses for this current academic year 2014/2015.

Last date for student access

Your students will have access to 2014/2015 courses until 13 September 2015 (unless you selected a different date option when you activated your course).

Please advise your students to download any content they want to keep for future years before they lose access to the Blackboard course.

Last date for staff access

You will have access to your Semester 1, Semester 2 and All Year 2014/2015 courses until 1 December 2016.

There will be a further communication about start of year and course activation in the next two weeks, and full details will be available in the Knowledge Base.

Deletion of old Blackboard course units from 2012-13

Last year the course lifecycle for Blackboard courses was fully implemented.  This means that this year any course units from 2012-13 will be permanently deleted from the system on 1 December 2015.

The lifecycle is represented in this Bb9 course lifecycle diagram, which is mapped out for the 2013-14 academic year and which will be the model for future years. This is in line with University data retention guidelines.

Reviewing Your Online Content

Now is a good time to review your Bb9 course for next year, to identify any changes from last year and evaluate what went well and what could be improved.

Update Reading Lists

You should also be thinking about reviewing your reading list(s):

  • contact the Library to update your reading lists;
  • make sure the link2lists is live on your Bb section.
