Albert Square transforms to Festival Square

02 Jul 2015

From 3 July, Albert Square becomes Festival Square - the home of Manchester International Festival - for 18 days

Festival Square

Everyone is welcome at Festival Square: the place to eat, drink, relax and soak up the Festival experience. You don’t need a ticket and you can drop in at any time to enjoy MIF for free.

Events include:

Pavilion DJs

A handpicked selection of DJs will be playing in the Pavilion every evening. Expect everything from chillout tunes to fierce funk, from ‘80s classics to the newest in new disco – plus podium dancing and other late-night shenanigans.

Acoustic Stage

As always, we’ll have an eclectic range of terrific local acts on our Acoustic Stage – everything from folk bands and kora players to gospel choirs and even a solo harpist. All performances are free and you don’t need a ticket.

Pavilion Theatre

The Invisible Dot will be taking over the Pavilion Theatre for a series of comedy evenings with Adam Buxton, late-night cabarets and their new play The Crocodile. Look out, too, for BBC at MIF, a pop-up studio by the bar during the first week of the festival – you’ll be able to catch live broadcasts, interviews and other goings–on.

Food and drink

As always, there’ll be a great range of food and drink on offer at Festival Square – including an extra bar right by the Pavilion Theatre for pre-show tipples.
