Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell

Corridor Manchester is home to an exceptional group of knowledge-intensive organisations and businesses and the partnership is committed to generating further economic growth.

In addition to The University of Manchester, The Corridor Manchester partnership comprises Manchester Metropolitan University, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Manchester City Council, Bruntwood, Manchester Science Partnerships, ARUP and The Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). More than 60,000 people work in the Corridor area, plus 72,000 students.

The President took over as Chair from Professor John Brooks on 1 June following his retirement. During Professor Brooks’ time at the helm of the Corridor Board, he has steered the development of a new strategic vision for a decade of opportunity, to position Corridor for a bright future. During a recent visit by Bruce Katz of the Brookings Institution, he recognised Corridor as being one of the top innovation districts in Europe.

Professor Rothwell said: “Corridor Manchester is a unique partnership which aims to make the Corridor one of the UK’s leading locations for knowledge-based businesses, R&D and learning and knowledge. The University of Manchester will continue to work with our partners to deliver the future success of the Corridor and, as Chair, I am committed to progressing the strategy and building on the great work started by John.”
