Beastly Library Sleepover is a Roaring Success

21 May 2015

Fifty kids brave Grumbold, mask making and spooky cellar tours by night

Mythical Beasts Sleepover

The John Rylands Library hosted a Mythical Beasts Sleepover as part of Museums at Night, the annual nationwide celebration of museums, on Friday (15 May).

Attended by fifty children and their accompanying grown-ups, the aim of the evening was to provide guests with the opportunity to explore and play within the unique surroundings of the Rylands.

The beast-themed evening began with a roaring greeting from the Library dragon Grumbold.

Guests then got stuck in to an exciting programme of interactive activities, including a monster disco, messy mask-making and spooky cellar tours.

They then snugged up in sleeping bags in the grand Historic Reading Room for a film, storytelling and eventually some sleep!

The fully-booked event was thoroughly enjoyed by families, who described it as “fantastic” and “monsterific”!

A huge thank you to all the staff involved in making the event a success.
