Have you always dreamed of becoming a science writer but never known how to get started?
Well, the Science Communication Unit (SCU) at UWE is running a science writing competition in conjunction with BBC Focus magazine.
Aimed at non-professionalHave you always dreamed of becoming a science writer but never known how to get started? science writers, the winners will have their work published in BBC Focus magazine and on the BBC Focus and SCU websites as well as winning a year’s subscription to BBC Focus.
Winners over 18 will also have the chance to spend a week with the BBC Focus team learning how the magazine is put together, and take science writing classes at UWE.
Judges will be looking for lively, engaging well-researched stories that are thought-provoking.

The closing date for entries is 5pm on Friday, 19 June 2015.
Published writers (professional journalists and anyone else who writes for money) are excluded. All others, including scientists and bloggers, are welcome to apply.
