Save energy over Easter
30 Mar 2015
Make sure you switch off on Thursday, 2 April (with the exception of managed PCs)
An energy saving and monitoring initiative for the 2015 Easter break has been developed by members of staff from the Mechanical and Energy Team, the Environmental Sustainability Team, IT Services and academic staff from the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences.
This initiative will aim to reduce energy usage across campus as much as possible during the four days over Easter, whilst carefully monitoring energy usage in individual buildings. This will allow a baseline to be established, which will help plan future energy saving measures, leading to a reduction in the University’s carbon emissions, and saving money.
To facilitate this, we are asking that all staff take extra care to ensure that any electrical appliances and non-essential apparatus are switched off prior to the Easter weekend on Thursday, 2 April.
Managed PCs
Don't switch off your managed PC - just log off, which will put it into into sleep mode after it hasn't been used for a while. This reduces power consumption and allows IT Services to run important updates while still allowing you to remotely access your PC.
