Celebrating philanthropy
25 Mar 2015
This Thursday (26 March), supporters of The University of Manchester will be welcomed onto campus for the inaugural Celebration of Philanthropy day
The event, organised by the Division of Development and Alumni Relations, will celebrate the impact of donations towards advancing the University’s goals of world-class research, outstanding learning and student experience, and social responsibility.
Donors will be treated to behind-the-scenes tours of some of the University’s most prized assets, including the Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester Museum and National Graphene Institute. This will be followed by a Philanthropy Showcase featuring students and projects that have directly benefitted from donor generosity, as well as insights into ground-breaking research being undertaken at the University.
We will then be joined on stage by notable physicist Professor Brian Cox who will lead an ‘In Conversation with’ talk featuring beneficiaries of donor support, providing an insight into his passionate advocacy for The University of Manchester and higher education more broadly. The day will culminate with a special ceremony and dinner in the Whitworth Hall, in which some of our most significant donors will be inaugurated into the President’s Circles of Philanthropy.
Staff are invited to visit the Philanthropy Showcase at 3.30pm on the ground floor of University Place, where they will learn about some of the many University projects receiving support from our generous donor.
