Five academics become Senior Fellows
Five University academics have gained recognition as Senior Fellows of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
They are Dr Caroline Bowsher, from the Faculty of Life Sciences, while Dr Janine Lamb, Dr Elaine Lockton, Dr Drew Tarmey and Dr Cathy Holt are the latest academics from the Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences to gain HEA fellowships.
The HEA, the national body for enhancing learning and teaching in higher education (HE), support UK HE organisations with an emphasis on improving the student experience.
HEA Fellowship is designed around the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF), which supports the initial and continuing professional development of staff engaged in teaching and supporting learning in higher education.
It provides a means to comprehensively benchmark, develop, and recognise and reward teaching and learning support roles within HE. More than 60,000 learning and teaching professionals in higher education are now Fellows of the Higher Education Academy, and just over 2,000 of these are Senior Fellows.
Fellowships are awarded depending on level of knowledge and experience. Senior and Principal Fellowships are typically awarded to experienced staff who are able to demonstrate impact and influence through leading and managing within a learning and teaching context. Principal Fellows must be able to demonstrate a sustained and effective record of impact at a strategic level in relation to learning and teaching.
