Academics vs students in free BBC radio recording
24 Feb 2015
BBC Radio 4 will be on campus on Wednesday, 25 February for a recording of The 3rd Degree - the quiz show pits three academics against their students to see who will come out on top
The show starts at 6pm and doors open at 5.30pm at the John Thaw Studio in the Martin Harris Centre. It’s free to attend and is expected to finish at 7.20pm.
Taking part are:
- Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine Bernard Keavney against student Sam Hey;
- Professor Matthew Cobb from FLS against Polly Martin;
- Lecturer in American Studies Dr Natalie Zacek against James Broadway.
The show is hosted by comedian Steve Punt and features both general knowledge & specialist subject questions. The show has the underlying rigour of a formal quiz, but combined with a light-hearted quest to discover how the students will fare against their elders and betters... but being a BBC Radio 4 quiz, both the questions and the scoring are actually approached in a rigorous fashion and taken seriously.
If you would like to watch the quiz being recorded, please just turn up tonight at the Martin Harris Centre or contact the box office on 0161 275 8951.
