Call for Living Lab proposals for Manchester Engineering Campus Development

The University Living Lab project seeks to develop the University campus as a site for applied teaching and research around sustainability and low carbon

The University Living Lab connects researchers, students, external stakeholders and the Directorate of Estates and Facilities to deploy and monitor new technologies and services in real world settings. 

There is now an opportunity to propose Living Lab ideas to be included into the design for the Manchester Engineering Campus Development (MECD). We are looking for research and teaching projects (at all levels), prototypes and recent innovations with a relevance to sustainability that could be implemented, tested and demonstrated in the MECD buildings. This could involve the evaluation of a new technology, the inclusion of monitoring equipment and sensors, the exposure of certain building functions or any other real-world application of research expertise. Proposals can span all fields, from structural engineering to materials, electrical engineering to spatial planning.

Ideas for Living Lab activities for existing campus buildings/areas, and suggestions for campus-based student projects, are also extremely welcome.
