Social Media Guidelines
21 Jan 2015
The University of Manchester has launched an updated set of Social Media Guidelines which have been developed to provide everyone at the University, from communications professionals to department administrators, with basic guidance on how best to use social media to achieve their communications aims and objectives
Social media enables people to have conversations about The University of Manchester on the internet and the opportunities it offers are exciting, as we can all join in a global conversation about the great work that we do.
These new guidelines are relevant for members of staff posting in an official capacity as a University employee. The guidelines will help you to manage your social media channels effectively and protect both your own reputation as well as that of the University.
If you are setting up a new account, do let us know about it so we can be better informed on what accounts are out there, and help to share your content more widely with appropriate audiences. Be sure to submit your new sites to socialmedia@manchester.ac.uk so we can add them to our growing Social Media directory.
You can find the Social Media Guidelines within our brand microsite, which also contains information about the University’s visual identity, house style, tone of voice, web guidelines and market research as well as advice on publications, photography and video:
