British Academy hosts panel of experts
A panel of expert academics will be discussing what ‘well-being’ means, what is important to our happiness and what contributes to it at a British Academy event at The Lowry in the new year.
The event – on Wednesday 14 January 2015, 6-7.30pm, The Lowry, Salford – is free to attend, but you need to register online to attend.
The panel will discuss what should the term 'well-being' encompass, what contributes to it, and why is it important? They will also ask how does this differ across social, historical and cultural contexts; and what is relevant to our well-being beyond basic material needs or wants – health, community, capabilities, risks, fulfilment or happiness?
The event will be chaired by Felicity Goodey CBE, Lifelong President of The Lowry Centre Trust.
Confirmed speakers are Paul Dolan, Professor of Behavioural Science in the Department of Social Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science and Director of the new Executive MSc in Behavioural Science, and Gregor Henderson, National Lead for Wellbeing and Mental Health with Public Health England.
