Huge procurement effort praised

17 Nov 2014

Staff from the Directorates of Finance and Estates and Facilities, Procurement and Office of the General Counsel have achieved a key milestone in delivering one of the largest single procurement projects ever undertaken by the University.

A shortlist of contractors has been invited to tender for three contracts to deliver the University’s 10-year Campus Masterplan through a ‘Partnership Framework’. This Framework is being adopted to overcome some of the significant challenges delivery of the Masterplan presents. The majority of capital projects over £10m are to be procured via the Partnership as well as other large projects alongside these.

The scope and scale of the Masterplan presents significant delivery challenges and the Framework aims to procure services over the long term to secure the best delivery teams, deliver the best buildings and achieve best value

Assistant Director of Estates and Facilities and Head of Capital Projects, Steve Jordan,  said: ”The Partnership Framework is a key component in successfully delivering the Campus Masterplan and will help to ensure that completed projects contribute to the University’s 2020 vision. I want to thank everyone for their contributions – it really is an excellent piece of work and of significant importance for the delivery of our Masterplan.”

Director of Estates and Facilities, Diana Hampson, said: ”I would like to add my personal thanks to everyone that has been involved in this exercise - I know it has been a mammoth effort and a big demand on everyone. I am sure the effort will be worthwhile.”

The aim is to have the partnership established and operating in early 2015.
