Wanted old, new unused or unwanted clothing for a student run upcycling project

The Upcycling Project is a temporary student run shop that will be opening on Monday 10 November in the old RBS building next to the Student Union.

The shop – open from Monday 10 November to Wednesday 12 December – will be selling vintage clothes and clothing donated by the public, as well as 'upcycling' them, that is giving them a new lease of life.

Throughout the month the shop will also offer different professionally-run workshops, as well as other events such as live music nights.

All profits raised from the Upcycling Project will then be donated to The Women for Women International Charity.

In order to open up the shop, the Upcycling team need more clothing donations. There are two large labelled red bins in the main foyer of the Student Union, directly in front of the Student Bar, where all donations can be deposited. The bins will be present throughout the month to collect donations, however the sooner donations are received the better. Any kind of old, new, unused or unwanted clothing will be accepted. The items don’t need to be in perfect condition, as some of the clothes will be given a new lease of life by 'upcycling' them before they are sold in-store.

If you'd like to find out more information about the Upcycling Project, please see its Facebook page.

The official launch will be on Tuesday 11 November for any staff who would like to attend.
